Diving into Our New Topic

Yesterday we held our launch day for our brand new topic:

In the morning we did lots of activities based around our new topic. We cracked a morse code to reveal our topic title and then used the morse code alphabet to write our names and a secret message to our friends!

We then moved on to making a pop up turtle to go in our reading area and add some colour.

After that, we became cartographers and made our own islands on a map. We included places of interest such as lakes, rivers, mountains and beaches and then helped to plot these by using grid coordinates.

Finally, we mixed cool colours to create a marbled effect and dipped a template of a sea monkey in to create an interesting piece of art.

There was just enough time for some singing before lunch! Phew! And that was only the morning!

In the afternoon we swapped round classes to do different water based activities. We played a water bomb game, learned about the water cycle, did a tooth brushing experiment to see how to save water and a water relay race.

The last thing to do with all the spare water was to...
Cool down!
